Safe and Effective
Treatment with CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast is a safe and effective way to aid in the correction of facial wrinkles, glabellar frown lines, nasolabial folds, vermilion borders, distensible scars and other soft tissue deficiencies. The collagen in CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast is isolated and purified from human dermal tissue grown under controlled laboratory conditions. The starting dermal fibroblasts are rigorously screened for known pathogens, and the resultant tissue undergoes a series of tests to ensure that it is free from contaminants. In addition, as the collagen is isolated from the tissue, it is subjected to additional viral inactivation for added safety.
Description
CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast collagen implants are sterile devices composed of highly purified human-based collagen that is dispersed in phosphate-buffered physiological saline containing 0.3% lidocaine. CosmoDerm is a non-cross-linked formulation used in the treatment of superficial lines, whereas CosmoPlast is cross-linked and is primarily used in the treatment of more pronounced wrinkles.
Recommended Injection Technique
CosmoDerm is best injected into the superficial, papillary dermis. It is recommended that enough material be injected so that the defect is overcorrected 1.5 - 2.0 times the initial depth of the wrinkle. Care should be taken in thin-skinned areas, such as around the eyes and mouth. CosmoPlast can be used to treat deeper furrow lines or scars. CosmoPlast is typically best injected into the mid-to-deep reticular dermis. Enough material should be injected so the defect is optimally corrected, but not overcorrected. Careful layering of CosmoDerm over CosmoPlast can be performed to eliminate a wrinkle or scar with no overcorrection.
